Our worship service is each Sunday at 10AM (for all ages).  Following each worship service, we invite you to stay around and fellowship with us around coffee and pastries in Anspach Chapel. We'd love to get to know you better!

Each week throughout the month we offer many opportunities for you to grow in your faith - from Bible studies to Sunday school classes.

From serving with our local food pantry, to providing summer meals to school children, to cooperative ministry with local churches for supporting and helping serve needs within our community and local school, Colfax First has a way for you to get involved and serve with us.

JOIN US FOR Worship Each Sunday at 10am

Worship is traditional but casual, so come as you are!

Come in the big main doors at the front of the church. You'll be greeted and receive a  worship folder program when you arrive. You'll enter into the sanctuary. If you need handicap accessibility, you can access our elevator at the ground entrance level to the church. Restrooms are in the basement of the church.

Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month. There's  a children's message every week for our littler worshippers and then they are dismissed from our worship service to go to children's Sunday school in our basement classrooms. We also have a self-supervised nursery for children ages four and  under.

Plan to stay afterwards for fellowship time with treats and coffee in Aspach Chapel! There is always hot coffee, cold drinks, snacks and friends to visit with. Everyone is welcome!

Colfax First UMC offers an array of opportunities to get involved and meet others, including Bible studies and special interest groups. We are hands-on, providing opportunities to serve and lead missions and ministries of passions.

We follow the United Methodist Doctrine  (www.umc.org/what-we-believe) with a guiding principle to welcome everyone and help them grow in their faith and spiritual journey. We hope you join us!

We are a welcoming congregation in the community of Colfax - a bedroom community east of Des Moines - with a population of approximately 2,000. We offer a traditional worship service in the sanctuary each Sunday. You are encouraged to dress comfortably and enjoy the free coffee before worship.

We believe in the power of prayer. If you are in need of prayer at this time, please call or email us at (515) 674-3782 or  colfaxfirstumc@colfaxumc.com   Prayers are confidential.  If your request involves an emergency,  please call 911 or the national suicide prevention hotline  1-800-273-8255.

Colfax First UMC is engaged in the community of Colfax in a variety of ministries. We not only seek opportunities to serve, we encourage everyone to find  something that interests them.  If you have an interest in it, not only  will you be allowed to pursue and plan it, you will find many behind you, cheering you on and eager to assist.

Colfax First UMC provides hands-on ministry. We participate in the Colfax renowned annual car show with a food stand, provide an annual Harvest Home Supper in October that draws in over 400 people, and we provide a community soup supper for the annual Colfax Country Christmas, held the first Saturday of December. Each winter we sponsor a coat drive to distribute to a variety of places in Colfax and the Des Moines metro area to help those in need (having given up to 500 coats in a single year). Each summer we provide food tubs to families in need in the out-of-school season. We also donate monthly to the Colfax Food Pantry on the second Sunday of each month. We also have an ongoing Gathering Table to collect items for hygiene and school kits that are provided to the annual Mission Ingathering in Iowa for the United Methodist Church. We provide the opportunity to collect clothing and household items to be donated to Bidwell-Riverside House and Thrift Store in Des Moines.

This is but a few of the things we do as a community of faith do make a difference in our community!
